My project for Ph.D program is to increase the oxidation resistance of several Ni-based superalloys, which are widely used in chemical, engine, nuclear and other high temperature areas. The first approach I am using is by applying reactive element (RE) containing coating, which may not only decrease the oxidation velocity but also enhance the adherence between the outer oxide layers and substrate alloys. The second method is by changing texture since it has a significant influence on the anisotropy oxidation behavior of metal and alloys.
