Dr. Ritwik Basu is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He joined Prof. Szpunar’s group in September 2013. Dr. Ritwik's core expertise lies in processing - microstructure - properties relations of nickel titanium based shape memory alloys. His current activity is focused on the use of scanning electron microscopy coupled with electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and X-Ray diffraction techniques to characterize the microstructure and textures of NiTi shape memory alloys subjected to different thermo mechanical processing conditions. Dr.Ritwik obtained PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay in November 2012. He then served with Oxford Instruments; Indian Operations as an EBSD Application Specialist for a little more than a year before moving to Canada
